I am Nelson Chautala Msiska, a graduate from the University of Malawi. I did a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Economic History under the school of Humanities and Social Sciences, from which I have gained a strong foundation in understanding societal changes and economic factors that influence community development.
Currently, I am part of the YONECO family as an intern in the Business Development, Partnerships, and Resource Mobilization department, where I work as a Program Developer. My work involves assisting in writing and reviewing proposals, which has already proven to be an invaluable learning experience that will significantly enhance my professional portfolio. Additionally, I am a Red Lions Football Club player and have previously represented the University of Malawi Football Club. My experience in football has taught me that sports can be a powerful tool for social change, particularly in promoting children’s rights, welfare, and youth development. This will be essential in achieving one of the YONECO’s component on “Sports for development.”
Looking ahead, I am confident that my internship at YONECO will provide me with the practical skills and experience necessary to advance my career goals in development work. This opportunity to work alongside dedicated professionals in proposal writing and program development is helping me build a strong foundation in project management and resource mobilization – skills that are essential in the development sector. I look forward to making the most of this valuable learning opportunity.
